A Little Reminder for the Holiday Season
This year is about to wrap up, and it’s hard not to want this year to hurry up and finish, with finals coming and the last day of school before winter break on the horizon. This season is stressful and hectic but also brings great joy and happiness with it for some, sadness and grief to others. Since this time of year is so all over the place for so many people, it can be hard to understand what to do or say. If we concentrate on the happiness and joy of the season, we can easily overlook those who need comfort. If we focus on the craziness of it all, we can easily become overwhelmed and bogged down with needless worries and stress. The turmoil of grief also weighs many down and doesn’t allow them to feel the same cheerfulness others experience.
At this point, you may be wondering what you can or should do. I believe it is best for people to be happy and content with this time of year if they can, but also be understanding and kind to those who don’t feel the same. Kindness can mean taking the time to listen to others around you. A kind action or word can make someone’s day – it might not heal all their grief or resolve their stress, but it gives them some joy during a rough season. Even just listening to your friends and family about things they are having a tough time with can help them relax and feel like they have someone on their side. It can help more than you can imagine.
Winter is a tough time of year for many people, so lend a helping hand to everyone you can, and if you need help, there will always be someone there for you too. Love is the best gift you can give someone at all times, and this is a great time of year to do that. Love brings people together, and love is the core of what Christmas is and always should be about. So bring this love to others and spread Christmas cheer for all to hear😊
